Gábor Dénes Kovács

Educator, a theatre historian, a specialist writer, and an educational leader. He earned his degree in Hungarian Language and Literature as well as Aesthetics at Eötvös Loránd University in 1989, and later, in 2014, graduated as a public education leader at the Budapest University of Technology and Economics (BME). From 1988 to 1992, he worked as a theatre historian, exhibition curator, and specialist writer at the National Theatre History Institute. He was the artistic director of the Castle Theatre Gallery of the National Theatre (1992–1995) and the founding editor-in-chief of the National Theatre Magazine (1992–1999). In his creative work in theatre and circus arts, he has directed around 50 productions over the past three decades. Since 1998, he has served as a performing arts expert, contributing to the development of framework curricula and program requirements for secondary-level actor training. He was also the co-editor of the textbook for secondary-level actor education. He has held leadership positions in several acting schools, including Director of the Pesti Magyar (National) Acting Academy (1997–2012), the Gór Nagy Mária Acting School (2012–2016), and the Broadway Musical Studio (2016–2020). Since 2019, he has been the General Director of the Baross Imre Academy of Circus and Performing Arts. As a university lecturer, he has taught courses in art theory, aesthetics, and communication theory at Semmelweis University, Pázmány Péter Catholic University, and Óbuda University. Currently, he teaches at the University of Theatre and Film Arts.
