Zoltán Farkas Batyu

Gyula Harangozó Award-winning dancer, choreographer, dance teacher, and Distinguished Artist. He completed his professional studies at the Folk Dance Department of the Hungarian National Ballet Institute in 1975. In 1985, he graduated from the Eszterházy Károly Catholic University at Eger as a teacher in public education. Between 1975 and 1984 he was a solo dancer and assistant dancer of the Hungarian State Folk Ensemble. He excelled especially in the performance of original folk dances requiring great virtuosity. In 1983 he became a member of the Párhuzam group, and since 1984 he has been a dancer and founding co-director of the Kodály Kamara Dance Ensemble. He has extensive pedagogical experience. From 1991 to the present day, he is a regular guest of the Muzsikás Ensemble with his partner Ildikó Tóth “Fecske” as a dancer and choreographer. He is a member of the New Gereben orchestra and the Borbély-Batyu duo. He graduated as a dance teacher in 2012 from the Budapest Contemporary Dance Academy, where he has been teaching since its foundation in 2005. He also teaches regularly at the Liszt Academy and the University of Theatre and Film Arts.
