At BCDC the aim of the thesis is to demonstrate the candidate’s ability to synthesise practical professional experience and theoretical knowledge in the chosen subject area. In terms of content, it is important that

1. students have a personal and professional relationship with the chosen topic. The research on the topic and the writing of the paper should help them in their career as a performer or teacher by bringing them into a reflective relationship with their own professional experience.
2. what students wish to convey fits into today’s knowledge of the subject.
3. the thesis should be understandable and useful to the professional community, and go beyond the personal/professional and institutional boundaries of the student and the College.
4. the references are indicated so that the results of the literary sources used and the student’s own results/thoughts can be clearly distinguished
